About Jules

Jules Moberly plays contemporary Spanish guitar, performing a unique and original style that incorporates aspects of Flamenco, Latin music, folk and soul. As well as playing solo pieces that encapsulate the enchanting sound of the Spanish guitar, he also uses a loop pedal to build subtle and intricate layers of rhythm and melody, where the dynamics of the percussive element of the instrument can be interwoven with sonorous lead lines and melodic syncopation.
Jules has been playing guitar since the age of thirteen. His passion for Spanish guitar developed from listening to a range of genres, including Latin-jazz, funk, folk and Flamenco. In his early twenties he began studying the playing styles of Bossa Nova, Gypsy jazz, the classical works of Barrios Mangoré, and Flamenco. A move to Andalucía, Spain - the birthplace and heartland of Flamenco - presented him with the opportunity to immerse himself in this most dynamic and intricate style of playing. In his repertoire, adapted arrangements of familiar pieces of music sit alongside original works to create an enchanting performance that is both intimate and arresting.
Jules is also part of a duo called Amanita Grove - featuring Cheryl Silvawood on vocals and spoken word - performing Latin, Folk and Neo-Soul inspired original music and unique cover interpretations. They also present themselves as a trio, quartet and as a multicultural collaboration of musicians called Amanita Grove Collective.
Having been a woodsman and steward of the land for over 20 years, Jules also works on community and nature-led projects around Devon, together with Cheryl.
